Local Information

We live in a small town called Apex which is just south of Raleigh, named after Sir Walter Raleigh.
Raleigh hosts the research triangle park, and Duke University.

We enjoy pretty good weather, but have been known to suffer from the odd Hurricane !!

1996 was a rare year in the hurricane history of North Carolina. Tropical Storm Arthur, Hurricane Bertha, and Hurricane Fran all made direct landfall on the North Carolina coastline. It was the most active tropical cyclone season in the state since 1955, when Hurricanes Connie, Diane, and Ione all hit the coast. 1953, 1954, and 1955 was the most active three-year period of tropical cyclones in the state's history.. 1996 saw the most costly hurricane to ever hit North Carolina, Hurricane Fran. The landfall location of Fran near the city of Wilmington and its progression into the Raleigh-Durham area caused an estimated 1.275 billion dollars in damage in North Carolina alone.

Of course with all of the above, we still enjoy superb weather for most of the year.
